Motorbikes speeding through Garsdale
Posted in Uncategorized on 08/05/2019
As discussed at recent Parish Council meetings, motorbikes driving dangerously, treating Garsdale as a private racing circuit is a problem for residents each spring and summer.
We would like to collect some more accurate information about this, so if anyone has witnessed an incident with motorbikes, particularly any dangerous riding, or near misses, then please add a comment below, including approximate location, date, time, what happened, and ideally also your name and/or address, although it is OK if you prefer to remain anonymous.
Pedestrian access to platform at Garsdale Station
Posted in Uncategorized on 06/02/2019
At a recent Parish Council meeting a concern was raised about the pedestrian access to the railway platform at Garsdale Station. As a result the Parish Council is currently looking into who is responsible for the various sections – whether Cumbria Highways, Network Rail, YDNP, the Parish Council or private owners. This is in order to have an informed discussion at the next Parish Council Meeting, and to decide to alert either Highways, NR or YDNP if appropriate. The Parish council would like to reassure everyone that they have no intentions, or indeed any powers, to take any action against private owners or residents.
Any correspondence which the Parish Council receives on this matter will be considered at the next Parish Council Meeting at the Village Hall on 21 March at 7.30 pm, which all Garsdale residents are welcome to attend.
Quiz Night at the Moorcock on Tuesday 5 June
Posted in Uncategorized on 05/06/2018
There will be another pub quiz at the Moorcock on Tuesday 5 June, starting at 8.30pm.
10% of the cash raised from entry fees for the last quiz was donated to the air ambulance, the remainder was used for prize money. We expect the plan is similar for future events, and will be confirmed on the night or contact the Moorcock for further information.
The previous quizzes have been good fun with a wide variety of questions posed by Neville Woodfine followed by a number of people kicking themselves at answers, so please come along and give it a try.

Tree Clearing during the Snowstorm
Posted in Uncategorized on 27/03/2018
The Garsdale Parish Council would like to thank Stephen Labbate, John Park, Eddie Lord and Jodie Mitchell for clearing away the fallen trees that blocked the road during the “Beast From the East”. The road was completely blocked as was the back road due to snow, so there was potentially no access for emergency services to most of Garsdale. Cumbria Highways where unable to carry out the work at the time.
